Hi
Instead of painting today, I had the opportunity to take a day trip north to the Pease River country. Home to the Quahadi Comanche.
Looking south into a Pease River watershed from the top of the Caprock. Just to the bottom right of this photo, is where the photo below was taken.
On the top of the Caprock we found this Native American Mortar & Pestle. Nearby a grove of small oak shrubs. We could imagine the people sitting up there in the warm winter sun grinding the many oak nuts and mesquite beans. There is also a few variety of grasses with small grain seed heads.
Will return soon to "water witch" the underground spring that feeds Roaring Springs down river.
Adios for now. I will have a new painting from this trip and one I've almost completed of a New Mexico latia fence backlight with fall foliage finished and uploaded tomorrow.
Last shot of the day.
